St John’s is a downtown parish. We have a unique relationship with the community, and especially the downtown people, both those who live here, and those who come here to shop or visit. St John’s is also part of the world, and thus our mission takes us beyond the local community and into the larger world. Our mission therefore is both local and global in scope.
The Community Meal
For over 15 years, St John’s has hosted a lunch on the last Saturday of each month for all people. The meals are served on the church’s place settings, and guests are invited to share in appetizers, a meal and then program each month. Volunteers are needed each month to help serve the meal, clean up and provide the ingredients for the meal.
Wisconsin River Deanery of Churches
The Episcopal Churches in the western and northern part of the diocese are joined together in a deanery. As a group we represent different sizes of churches we work to support each other in our local communities while offering a witness to the area as a whole. Learn More
The Courtyard in the Summer
The summer season is unique at St John’s. We focus on opening up the courtyard and inviting the community to join us to celebrating the beauty of the gardens and the space. We have tables and chairs for people to come and enjoy lunch or read a book. We invite musicians to offer evening concerts on occasion, and in August we have the Tuesday brat fries. This has become a community picnic for many people both in the parish and from the downtown businesses.
