Serving Downtown Wausau for the sake of Christ’s Church

Our focus is on Jesus Christ

and His Holy Gospel of Salvation. Our hope is to make a place for all people to worship in reverence, to grow in godliness, and to pursue holiness.

The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist is a family-sized parish in the heart of Wausau’s downtown. Our calling is to be a place for everybody. In the midst of division in our country and in our world, Christ’s Church and His Holy Gospel work for everyone. As the rector of The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, I hope, with the help of the Holy Ghost, to curate a culture of orthodox belief and faithful Christianity, holding always to the foundational truth and primacy of Holy Scripture, the richness of our Anglican patrimony, affirming the historic creeds of the church catholic, the sacramental life of the Christian, and calling all people to new life in Jesus Christ, who alone can save.

From our pulpit you’ll hear the Gospel of salvation preached because the power of the Gospel is, and always has been, enough. From our altar, you will encounter the Real Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, present in the Most Blessed Sacrament of His Body and Blood. This is a place where relationships can be made, friendships kindled, faith renewed and refreshed, and the life of sanctification begun, or begun anew.

We hope you make the time to visit; we’ve got a seat saved just for you.

Yours in Jesus Christ, our only mediator and advocate,

Father Samuel C.R. Cripps
Rector of St. John’s
